Is it any surprise when they do things like this?
As Stuart says, even if it was considered that the mother herself was not an appropriate person for the child to be returned to, why were none of the rest of the family considered / consulted?
And even if none of them were appropriate, why is the child being put up for adoption here, rather than in Italy?
Can you imagine the uproar (more than this seems to be heading towards) if a British child was taken away from their mother like this and put up for adoption abroad? We always seem to be so good at 'one rule for us, and another for others'
