Sky have the new releases, so it's bound to cost more than Netflix. I don't see how Netflix could have the same number of new releases that Sky does without raising the price.

ATM you have distinct options. More newer movies from Sky at a higher cost or older movies and loads of TV from Netflix at a rock bottom price.

A good compromise, as has been pointed out, is bluerays/DVDs from Lovefilm at £10/month, which also includes the streaming content as well.

You pays your money etc.
