Cooling off period?

I phoned up virgin as I want to switch to sky.

I have been a customer of virgin for 10 years... ever since the telewest days.
They upgraded my contract friday just gone... so basically like 2 days ago.

The man said if I wanted to leave I'd have to pay a fee of £306 but he also stated that I have no cooling off period.

WTF.

He then proceeded to say how everyone gets a 30 day period to disconnect with no fees.... So why don't i?

This is wrong.

I also never even received a letter in the post even telling me I was put on a new contract.
I don't have e billing either and have checked my virgin mail.

I should have the 30 day cool off period...
