An appeal does also run the risk of a longer ban if it is considered frivolous as well.
He could quite easily have been facing a charge of ABH or common assault if the Chelsea player had made an official complaint. He should take his punishment like a man but then real men don't bite like little children or animals.

Its not just him that'll suffer though, Liverpool will as well, I think five games would've been appropriate, that way he misses the chance of personal glory in the scoring charts and misses the first game of next season as an extra reminder without wrecking his and Liverpools pre season, I don't think an appeal would be frivolous.
