Thanks for the advice.
Engineer arrived this morning and swapped the box out for a Samsung and connected new cables too. I wasn't there, but I'll find out what he said about it tonight.
Gutted at losing quite a lot of recordings, but for the benefit of a stable box, it'll be worth it in the long run. Fingers crossed!
