**** bag burglars should not be in peoples houses it is that simple and i don't see any problem giving them a good kicking if they are. If they attack the owner with a knife then they should expect the same back and if they end up dead thats there problem.

The police need to be sure beyond any reasonable doubt that the guy he stabbed was not just someone who has wondered in to the wrong house, or already invited in to the premises.
The problem with knee-jerk reactions is it leaves too much to risk. Once the police have established all the facts
then they guy should be released if it is proven he used reasonable force.
