Re: Update to Sticky - Useful info Outlook Express

Thanks.
NTL Tech Support didn't suggest anything once they had got my email working by using the TCPIP address rather than the domain name. (smtp.ntlworld.com).

I questioned using the TCPIP, to which the welsh techy lady answered that she always advised people with problems to directly enter the TCPIP address.

From the sticky 'changing DNS & Proxies' http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/showthread.php?t=8783 I forced the DNS to BT and then Freeserve. smtp.ntlworld.com still not working.

Normally I use Outlook Express but Thunderbird also fails to be able to send emails with smtp.ntlworld.com rather than 62.253.162.40, so in Firefox tried using above process to force proxy away from COSH 8 to BRTN 3. tested that I was using the brtn proxy. No effect couldn't send emails.

I think I am stuck with leaving the TCPIP in. OK till they change the TCPIP address of their smpt server.

I wondered whether I might have a trojan that has highjacked my outgoing email to an alternative tcpip address? (neither norton or adaware flag up anything).
