I think you said that you can get on the net when plugged in to the router. Is that correct?

if so, then the router is working. What LEDs are lit on the router in this circumstance. Is the WLAN LED lit?

If so, the router seems to be transmitting so your laptop should be able to connect. Don't worry about security 'till you get a connection. we can do that later
