How can you possibly compare the two? The IRA have been trying to win a free Ireland for 100 years. They mainly targeted British forces & military establishments. The last "active" campaign continued for 30 years. They had no gripe against the USA, in fact the US assisted them in many ways, especially money.
The Muslim threat hasnt been relevant for anything like that long. Their gripe is against anyone, especially the west, the USA & UK. There hasnt been enough time to make a "British" comparison yet. However, if you compare the damage the "Al-Quaeda" network has done compared to the IRA damage, worldwide, then there is no comparison. Bin lid wins hands down.
