ntl have been filtering spam for a year or 2 now. Have a look here:-

You can choose how you want ntl to handle suspected spam

I dont need spam killers etc becuase most of them seem to need you do download the full junk messages then have it filtered off to a separate folder. My need is to quickly download the header/bare minimum to identify it as rubbish then leave it on the server or auto delete it from the sever...

I use "mailwasher". Rather than have my suspect spam autodeleted by ntl, I have it marked as "SPAM?". I can then choose whether to delete it from the server via mailwasher or download it via Outlook Express.
I was a bit skeptical at first as to how well the spam filter would work, but I must admit, it seems to weed out the spam very well. Very few spam emails are missed, and only 1 wanted email was marked as spam in all the time the filters have been in use.
