D-Link Wireless ADSL Router (RJ11 Port) - Connection to ntl branded modem (RJ15 Port)
I just bought a D-Link DSL-G604T wireless router. As the name suggests this product is primarily designed for DSL customers. However, I was assured that I would have no difficulty connecting it to my (blue semi-tranparent) ntl branded cable modem.
The rear of the D-Link unit has a RJ11 ADSL port and four RJ15 LAN Ports (see image). My question is how do I supply the ntl cable service from the ntl cable modem to the D-Link router? The ntl cable modem unit has a RJ15 ethernet cable port but the D-Link router has a RJ11 DSL port. I'm pretty new to this sort of thing so any assistance or direction will be greatly appreciated. http://www.dlink.com/images/products...G604T_view.jpg |

:welcome: Take it back. Whoever told you it was suitable for connection to a cable modem was talking out of their proverbial. You need a router which does NOT have a built-in ADSL modem, as you are using an external CABLE modem.

Many thanks for your help. Not the answer I had hoped for but at least I know now. Can you reccomend a suitable alternative that would be appropriate?
