Vm v BT v (& Sky)

Am I missing something somewhere, as although it seems BT Vision is targetting VM customers, it is offering a far inferior service?

Now I'm not saying VM are perfect and Jeez the Superhub debacle has been nothing short of scandalous (thank god I kept my old router), but I just don't see why people are saying BT are offering a better service?

For TV content-Sky is obviously king as they are deliberately monopolising their content so other providers either can't/wont justify pay extra for channels (Atlantic/Sports 3 & 4 HD) etc etc.
HD is more with Sky, but at least i'm not having to pay an extra £10 per month for the privelage with Virgin! BT is offering a mega 4 HD channels!!
From what I have seen of BT Vision it is basically freeview with an on demand service and only Sky Sports 1 & 2 and ESPN (obviously get 1,2,3,4 and ESPN with Virgin although not HD 3 & 4.

For internet-I know BT are offering up to 160mb, but I'm sure I can survive with my paltry 60mb line and if you are in a non cabled area and using ADSL in a rural area etc you might have what my brother has-a massive 4mb!!
So horses for courses really.

I hated BT customer service and to be honest Sky wasn't much better (not saying VM are better than Sky either-just stating they are all the same).

So am I missing something as I just don't see the draw to BT Vision.

I think maybe people are looking at where BT are heading and that it has the potential to become number 2 after Sky. But Sky only excel in one thing; channel content. For me, everything else on VM is superior to Sky, and VM currently beat BT on both channel content and everything else.

Re: Vm v BT v (& Sky)

VM does not beat BT on fibre broadband qaulity. the speeds issue is balanced. VM lack capacity. BT lack the ability to hand all customers upto 76down/ upto 19up due to distance. as soon as BT FTTP is rolling out here, there and everywhere then there will be a real advantage for BT. Sky too I guess.

as for channels. BT have rights to broadcast the Prem which they will use to get Sky channels in exchange for BT sports. you could say Sky have a solid hand with BT needing to sell their sport channel(s) but make no mistake Sky needs BT Sports and BT needs Sky HD channels.

right now Sky have the upper hand in my opinion. channels plus fibre broadband. its just a shame Sky have the router issue where you cant properly use your own choice of router.

as for digital boxes clearly the TiVo is winner.
