Help please
I'm really sorry to trouble you, but this red shield with white cross (windows security alert) has taken over. It tells me my computer is infected with loads of trojans. This happened to me last year and completely locked me out of everything. This time, at least for the moment anyway, I can get Internet explorer.
I am able to run a scan -Microsoft security essentials, which has been running for just over an hour but I cant get rid of the pop up boxes or the page where it tells me I'm infected. I'm wondering if running the scan will sort out the problem or do I need to download something. I'm afraid I an a complete novice when it comes to computers, so any advice would be gratefully received please. Thank you. It has gone, I have no idea how, unless it was the scan, but I needed to tell you as I didnt want to trouble anyone for nothing. It does keep appearing near the clock though, so I wonder if there is anyway I can get rid of it. |
Re: Help please
ok it sounds like a spoof AV designed to get some personal information and/or credit card info. Its malware and most likely a lie
What is the actual name of the rogue software?? Most of these are quite easy to uninstall Firstly download the Rkill program ( use the one labeled iexplore) http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/down...ti-virus/rkill then download malwarebytes http://www.malwarebytes.org/ if you have any problems downloading these post back or download from a second computer Run rkill ( rogue av may complain keep trying until it runs and a dos box opens and stops processes) once finished install malwarebytes allow to update and then run a full scan With a bit of luck that will be the end of it. Only a few need further measures lets hope you do not have one of those |
