Setting Email
Hello Folks,
I hope someone can help me? I have set up the following home wireless network. VirginMedia Broadband via an NTL250 modem. Beklin Wireless G+ Mimo Router - F5D9230uk4 Dell Laptop running XP Home with a Belkin Wireless G+ Notebook Card - F5D7010. HP Pavillion running both XP Home & Vista Home with a Belkin Wireless G Plus Mimo USB - F5D9050uk. Is there any way of setting up our emails so that every OS can see the same inbox, so far we have different emails in all 3 email clients. And it's a pain having to remember which email is in what client if that makes any sense? The only thing that springs to mind is to leave all messages on the server until read, then delete them. But we have alot mails we want to keep and do not want to exeed any limits with VirginMedia. Thanks for your time. Dan. |
Re: Setting Email
I'm often surprised that there are not more solutions to this problem myself, as surely it must be common for people to have a laptop and a desktop.
Are you using Outlook or Outlook Express (or something else)? Solutions vary in complexity and need for other equipment: 1) Store your outlook outlook.pst file on a network storage device. You won't be able to use email on two different computers at the same time, but whichever computer you use you'll be looking at the same mailbox. You use the "mail" option in the control panel and change mailbox location (you can do similar with Outlook express, but I think that involves hacking the registery) 2) Sign-up to a mailbox provider that supports IMAP, and synchronise your mail using IMAP 3) On ntl account you can configure ntl to send a copy of all incoming mail to another mailbox. So open yourself a hotmail or googlemail account and then login to your account settings and set up your account to send a copy of all emails to your hotmail or gmail account. You'd still have different mailboxes on your different computers, but your hotmail or gmail account would contain copies of all of them. |
