this is my mobo http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...d=5&subcat=174

id save 50 quid and buy the E6600 it will clock beyond the 6700 with a fair air cooler. Spend the extra on a better mobo

Re: New pc

I did have it a while back its held its value quite well. There are hordes of good high spec boards though. I like the 975x chipset on the grounds it just works with quad and should hopefully work with the Penryns as it does have some good voltage options(although im not sure about the fsb)

my E6600 clocks to 2.86 gig on 1.4 volts before the fan kicks in to higher speed (to loud for general use) and will run quite happily at 3 gig+ with these settings and true core temps are constantly around 65 degrees (true core temps not normal ones quoted which isnt a core sensor really) new Noctua HSF coming tomorrow so I push it more then ;)

My friend has a quad system very very nice but he designs Web sites and makes a lot of money doing it :tu: Looked at the quad chips not cheap :Yikes:

350 quid for the Q6600 which is good value if you want it but with the Penryns coming and a good 6 to 8 months before there on the market and been there long enough to drop in price. (if you buy new you pay design premium for them true of everything really)
