Virgin media ignoring reports of open green box, any ideas?

Hi all,
Our house is opposite the green box and the front cover has fallen off, I have managed to prop it back on but it is by no way secure.

I have reported it to Virgin 13 times online (over 3 weeks) and twice on the phone and its still not been sorted.

Im worried its damaging the box through exposure to the elements now or will be vandalised soon and we will loose our services.

Any ideas on how I can get this sorted? Is there anyone who will take any notice from Virgin and be interested in sorting it?

Email addresses or phone numbers welcome.

Can not believe they are more bothered!!:td:

Thanks;)

I will post it.

My concern is purely selfish, we have the phone, TV and broadband from them and I think the box is pretty close to being battered by either a vandal idiot or the elements.

Its going to take them longer to replace the box and get our services up and running than it would be to send some one out to secure the box.

They just seem so un-interested.
:td::mad:

Tell us here and I'll pass it onto them via Twitter. They're very good at sorting stuff out :)

Were you aware your iPhone puts GPS info in the EXIF data on your pictures?

(Not that I needed it, of course. I'd recognise that litter anywhere ;))

As Peter said, you can report these yourself on 0330 333 0444.

Or use the 'general enquiry' route from here.

Yeah I think it's a good thing to post the pictures on here so people can see them, might make VM think more then look after there property etc.

Not pretend everything is hunky dory.

Lol yeah thanks a lot my man. My Avenue is easier to pronounce Edward VII Avenue but some people struggle with the roman numerals. :)

On the VM green box I posted yesterday the pavement it's on is all dug up from the box to the top of the road about 30 feet. So not sure what's going on there. It's cornered off with workmens fencing, that's why all the rubbish and leaves are around the green box. I contacted my local councillor a Tory :(to ask why thats been like that for over a year now, there finding out for me apprently.

As this is not a Virgin Media run forum that is unlikely to happen.

Well ours is still hanging off, im up to 25 reports now, including the help from people on here

Still no repair and looks like some one has kicked the front now so its even worse.

Why wait until its beyond repair? I would fix it myself but they will probably call me and bill me for messing with one of their boxes.

Maybe there not bothering cause that cab is being upgraded.

Re: Virgin media ignoring reports of open green box, any ideas?

Or they just haven't been able to get around to it yet.

borrissey 10-04-2012 00:24

My cab hasn't been fixed yet it's damaged bottom is bent out of shape, so won't close properly.

I don't think they'll bother with it cause cab upgrades have started in my area recently. But could still be months before it is upgraded, speed rollout is July. So if it's not fixed by Friday me and my next door neighbour are going to fix it for them, he's a builder and used to work for BT as an engineer.

Re: Virgin media ignoring reports of open green box, any ideas?

Ok, quick update.

I happened to have a day off and on Friday up rolled a Virgin van, two blokes got out, looked at the box, one kicked it and front fell off.

The other one laughed, they then proceed to get go the van, I assume to locate a suitable tool to shape the box front back into a usable form......so...
Hammer perhaps....nope
maybe a screwdriver.....nope
mallet....nope not one of those

The guy arrived back with a spade!! They then proceed to take in turns to hit the lid with a spade whilst the other one held it. I'm no sheet metal worker, but I suspect this is the not the traditional method of working metal.

At this point the lid looked like it had been the unfortunate recipient of a green box hate attack, looking worse than when it had started.

At this point I popped out to the car and also went over to speak to them, they told me that they had tried to shape it a little and were looking for some bricks to push against the cover as they still thought it would stick out slightly, asked if I had any and said no and went back into the house

They concluded their "repair" by putting the now destroyed front back onto the box and kicking it until I assume it sort of fitted. Then putting a black bin liner over the top of it. Which 10 minutes after they left had blown away.

In short the box looks the same / worse than it did before.

At one point I was honestly hoping they were going to ask me if I could fix it whilst they had a cuppa.

Sorry for the long post and thanks for everyone's help!

Oh I would ring Virgin Media tomorrow from 8am and put in an official complaint as well, but having video evidence would have also been good.

Virgin technicians arent sheet metal fitters, also we dont have the tools to fix cabinets, it will have to go to a contractor. What has happened here is INDIA have asked a technician to close a cabinet door!

i reported 2 green cabs open 1 month ago, the other day i noticed one of them was closed, and the one right next to it had the usual black tape around it and is still half open, even though i said on the report if they could be closed properly without black tape.

guess i'll keep reporting till its fixed properly because this seems to effect my service.

Have they run out of cabinets. When I went passed the one near me today Still has barrier around it. Still has tape ,but that starting to look a little worst for wear & still has Virgin notice on it, I guess saying sorry. This is a main road & near a bus stop. What a great advertisement it is .
