DVD Writer
Hello could some kind person explain how I go about upgrading the firmware on my DVD writers hope you can help thanks as I dont have a clue cheers take care best regards Roy.
|
Re: DVD Writer
Which writers do you have?
|
Re: DVD Writer
Hi I have a Pioneer not sure what the other one is because it came with the PC thanks take care best regards Roy.
|
Re: DVD Writer
If you tell us the exact model, we can probably point you towards the correct firmware..
WHy though do you wish to update the firmware? Also are you looking at RPC1? |
Re: DVD Writer
Roy, if you have a look in the DVD/CD-Rom Drives in the Device Manager it will tell you the model.
|
Re: DVD Writer
hi I want to update the firmware because I am going to buy some blank DVDs and the firm that supplies them said I need to upgrade firmware first ,and sorry I am not very good with PCs, just want to get things right ,is it hard to upgrade these writers, thanks take care best regards Roy.
|
Re: DVD Writer
To upgrade the writers you just need to run a simple program, but unless you tell us which writer you have (as in model number) it's impossible for us to point you in the right direction..
|
Re: DVD Writer
Pioneer will have the firmware on their support site anyway
http://wwwbsc.pioneer.co.jp/product-...html#firmware1 only the right one will run iirc its clever enough to stop you making mistakes but it is easy enough to get it right :) Roy right click my computer select properties if in vista select device manager if in XP select hardware then device manager expand dvd/cd drives and the model number will be there |
Re: DVD Writer
hello well I hope this is O.K. the first is TSSTcorp CD/DVDw SH-S182D DVD/CD-R
and the second is Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-111D USB Device DVD/CD R . hope thats O.K. thanks again take care best regards Roy. |
Re: DVD Writer
http://www.samsungodd.com/eng/Firmwa...ct_code=&os_no=
this looks like the samsung firmware. Does it say Samsung on the drive front? follow the instructions and use the oem check tool The Pioneer should be on the page I offered previously ---------- Post added at 13:06 ---------- Previous post was at 13:02 ---------- TSST stands for Toshiba Samsung Storage Technology btw ---------- Post added at 13:07 ---------- Previous post was at 13:06 ---------- Standard I am not responsible if you screw it up disclaimer also :) |
Re: DVD Writer
is it hard to do please tell me I dont want to mess it all up thanks again cheers
|
Re: DVD Writer
the pioneer will be a exe that will just do the job.
Dude I would buy your dvds and burn a few . If you have no problems then do not mess with the firmware :) Best advice I could give at this point is if you are not sure leave it alone :) |
Re: DVD Writer
I am haveing a few problems with burning now ,I have had a few DVDs that stops half way through and jumping ,I thought this would work any advice I will take thanks
|
Re: DVD Writer
the pioneer is a usb external drive I take it?
---------- Post added at 13:29 ---------- Previous post was at 13:28 ---------- http://wwwbsc.pioneer.co.jp/cgi-bin/...1D_FW129EU.EXE this is a link to the pioneer firmware update. Run the exe and it will search for the drive and tell you if it is correct or not. It will guide you. Just try this one for now |
Re: DVD Writer
ok I have downloaded that file its on my desktop what should I do now thanks again
|
Re: DVD Writer
double click it it will extract and will either run or you will have to find it and run it ( it extracts to root of c:)
|
Re: DVD Writer
and yes it is an external drive thanks again cheers
---------- Post added at 13:45 ---------- Previous post was at 13:40 ---------- did that and it said available target not found thats not right is it thanks ---------- Post added at 13:49 ---------- Previous post was at 13:45 ---------- I am runing Vista does that help cheers |
Re: DVD Writer
Let's try the KISS method before we end up with an ID ten error
http://www.hugzzz.com/A0812001.129 http://www.hugzzz.com/UPR111D.exe Save both of them files to c:\ then run the UPR111D.exe file, if it asks for which file then point it at c:\A0812001.129 |
Re: DVD Writer
still geting available target not found ,I got those two files on my desktop is that ok cheers
|
Re: DVD Writer
From what I can gather you can't flash them using the command line utility when it's on USB, the ONLY way will be to remove it from the external enclosure and plug it in to an internat port..
Sowwy.. |
Re: DVD Writer
dont think that I am clever enough to do tha t sorry thanks
|
Re: DVD Writer
Any children, nieces, nephews, grandchildren who can help?
|
Re: DVD Writer
no sorry can the other one be done cheers
|
Re: DVD Writer
Probably YES, though I would follow Zing's excellent post #10 which includes the link, there might be an issue with OEM codes but follow the instructions and you should be fine

Re: DVD Writer
I am reluctant to go into anymore detail we can not make it any easier than we have already made it. If you want to post me the pioneer ill put it in a machine and update it if you wish short of you taking it to someone I do not think you are going to be able to do it :) no offence mate but some people are better off leaving well alone :)
|
Re: DVD Writer

Re: DVD Writer
I suppose I shouldn't answer if you're only asking the "GUYS"
But 1.Click on the Start Button and right click on Computer and select Manage. 2.Expand the Storage section and select Disk Management. From in there you should be able to change the drive letters ;) |
Re: DVD Writer
Sorry Kymmy my dear didnt mean any harm ,and I better leave well enough alone as long as its all working O.K. thanks again take care beat regards Roy,
