Who is right here?
http://forums.ntlhell.co.uk/index.ph...dpost&p=262926
He claims adslmax is ADSL2+. I told him its standard ADSL and well he dont believe me. So who is right? |
Re: Who is right here?
You are.
ADSL Max is basically when LLU is enabled on the line meaning that it "unlocks" the 2 Mb/s cap meaning you just get as much as your signal allows. ADSL2+ doubles the number of downstream bits cf standard ADSL meaning the connection speed can be doubled regardless of where you are. With ADSL Max, if you can only get 1 Mb because of the line, you will only get 1 Mb, on ADSL2+ you will get 2. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ADSL2%2B http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ADSL_Max |

Re: Who is right here?
LLU = Local Loop Unbundling means BT releases the copper from exchange to customer so other ISP's can put their own DSLAMs in the exchange.
A line still with BTWholesale and wholesaled to other ISPs is not Unbundled and with ADSL Max (G.992.1) will sync upto 8Mbps. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unbundling |

Re: Who is right here?
According to samknows the Bracknell exchange has been LLU'd by Sky, this would normally mean connection via ADSL2+.
Try the telephone number checker on samknows to find out how far away you're from the exchange, if it is 4km or more then it looks like 4meg is the fastest you'll get. |
Re: Who is right here?
just phoned sky and been told that they put me on ADSL1 as its all my line can handle.

Well you are some distance away. Shame that :( |
Re: Who is right here?
im thinking of also changing my master socket faceplate would that help even though theres an extension running from mastersocket(downstairs) to my room upstairs. was reading on www.skyusers.co.uk that it doubled the speed for some people.
