No - I'm using XP Corp SP2 - and it runs windows updates everytime there's something critical to update.

But I now have Firefox on the other pc and it's made no difference to the issue :(

The site worked fine from my sister's yesterday tho - which is why I was thinking it was my line/isp/connection/something... I don't know who her ISP is tho but she's defo not on the same as me cos they don't serve her area

If you've got an old dial-up modem you could test whether the problem is indeed specific to Blueyonder by connecting via dial-up and seeing if you get the same problem.

Yeh definately (2000th theory on this issue !) caching.

I managed to replicate the the hanging that potodgold was seeing but how to solve it without having an account OR MONEY HINT HINT is going to be tricky.

I'm recogning that SL is confused by the potential round robin between SSL and HTTP proxies.

If pot of gold could try one of the proxies from the list privided ensureing that both SSL and HTTP point to the same proxy and try again.

CRAPPY CODING STANDARD LIFE ******S

You've lost me there.... how do I check SSL and HTTP point to the same proxy?

I'm working thru that list of proxies... I've tried all 5 for Midlands/Bham so far and none of them have worked.... trying the rest on the list now :s

Within your browser, in the section that specifies that you want to sue a particular proxy server, you normally have the ability to set the proxy for certain protocols or for all of them - in Firefox there's a check box within the tab called "use this proxy server for all protocols".

firefox >edit > preferences > general > connection settings > manual proxy configuration >

put in http proxy the name of one we want to test pick one off the list and check the box 'Use this proxy for all protocols'

I am going to find a non Blueyonder proxy server in the meantime

---------- Post added at 21:29 ---------- Previous post was at 21:20 ----------

heres the private proxy that you can use to test

<snipped :9> port number 3128
