It's not a re-shuffle of the EPG that Virgin needs, it's a new UI.

Yes! So true. The UI looks incredibly dated. I'd welcome a refresh that brings it more inline with the recent US update.

JJ20X can still be found on Digital Spy Forum (Sorry Cable Forum).

It is a shame that they have both left i loved reading the information they provided, Theone2k10 often got it wrong but to his credit he was never afraid to put his hands up and admit he got it wrong, he was a bit of a hot head too at times.
JJ20X was very good with his information of services that were on the network and yet to launch.
I hope they both return at some point.

I totally agree with you. Posting coming-soon rumours requires a tough skin to handle the feedback and I'm sure that it would get to most people after a while.

Found this on a516digital's website regarding a teaser for FreeSports HD:

Meanwhile, fans are petitioning Virgin Media to get the channel on cable - it's the biggest TV platform that currently doesn't carry the channel. With news that Virgin is transitioning its channels from MPEG2 to the more efficient MPEG4 standard, there should be enough bandwidth for the channel..

Please can someone explain what the transition to MPEG4 means. I'm confused. :erm:

What?! Another one? Or did the V6 not get the update when the old Tivo did?

The last update (for the old Tivo at least) first appeared around 6th Dec on mine, and a layout tweak to move the Recently Watched and Favourites up the screen arrived around about Dec 20th which addressed the feedback I gave them.

Nothing has been confirmed by Media Boy Sources but Media Boy HQ feel Virgin Media UK are making room for MTV CLASSIC.

We mean why launch MTV LOVE on Virgin UK Channel 318 if it was just an rebrand of VIVA and it channel was on Virgin UK Channel 317.

If we was Virgin:

Launch MTV Loves (to be called MTV OMG) on Channel 316.
Launch MTV Classic on Channel 317.
Move VH1 to Channel 318.

ALL INFORMATION ARE THE VIEWS OF MEDIA BOY HQ.

Radio Times has confirm that Sky Cinema Drama and Romance will be known as Sky Cinema Valentine from February 5th to February 19th.

Look like WE ARE getting Sony Crime 1 after all.

STV HD deal up soon?

When Media Boy HQ goes back so see what was on Virgin on Monday Night using TiVo we see STV HD listed on VIVA (Channel 317)

Info says "We're unable to bring you STV HD at the moment. We're working with STV to restore this service as soon as possible."

But STV HD is STILL broadcasting here in Scotland on Virgin Channel 113.

Really? A channel could mean on demand, of course, but if this is a broadcast channel, I find that surprising. However, all good if true.

Can't imagine what channel this could be, to be honest.

Interesting. Nice to see Virgin being pro-active, given they are unlikely to be getting any UHD content from Sky or BT for the time being.

I wonder if any of the other channels you say are coming will be UHD?

Only one UHD may appear.
But an only to Virgin HD Channel may also launch.
And three more channels may also launch.

We are in talks with our sources about what to do with all the DNP TV orders

We have bins the others two DNP orders.

Yes, very possible, given that they are already running behind schedule. They were supposed to be providing UHD material by 2017.

I do hope that all their UHD output is on the BBC i-Player as it will use too much space recording it.

I think that would be a mistake, if true. The wholesale deal with VM brings with it a steady income for BT. I think by ditching this deal, BT would stand to lose a significant amount of income.

I also thought the existing arrangements would last until 2019.

Yes, I still remember being buoyed up with a glossy leaflet from my cable company at the time, telling me there were six new channels starting the next month. There were three new Granada channels, Si-Fi channel (I think that was how it was spelt in those days), Select TV and EBN. That was good to look forward to, and as we only had about 30 analogue channels at the time, this was a real change for us.

Now of course we have so many channels, Virgin don’t seem to want to make a fuss about new additions to our line-up, which is a pity.

All we have now are DNPs from Media Boy and the Changelog!

Only on YouTube and Netflix currently, but we are given to believe that things will start to change later this year.

Ah, don't use either. Also don't want a massive TV, think I'll wait for HDR.

You won't need HDR for Talking Pictures, Mr K! ;)

Perish the thought ! Some channels are best grainy as they were intended ;). Have you seen the 60's repeats of 'Steptoe and son' on Yesterday? Must be 25 lines definition not 625 ! However it's the the content/script that's brilliant, PQ is immaterial.

However sport, best definition poss. is nice, which is why I'll be freezing my nuts off watching a FA Trophy tie today, ultra ultra definition and 3D :) Rubbish pies though :(

Doesn't surprise me. Eurosport are now getting far more involved with Olympics rights so additional broadcast provision was inevitable. Luckily it is actual channels and not the dreaded Red Button streams you cant record.

They are being added to BT TV as well in SD & HD:

FreeSports have been tweeting that they are launching a HD channel soon:

https://twitter.com/FreeSportsUK/sta...22948397502464
https://twitter.com/FreeSportsUK/sta...52905911726080

Virgin Media does not have the SD version. FreeSports said that virgin media want too much money to air it. They said a few months ago that they would likely launch on Freesat HD/Sky HD for a possible HD channel as it is much cheaper. They said that launching on Freeview HD isn't going to happen any time soon as it costs a fortune, $300k or so for Freeview slot + multimillion broadcast fees from Arquiva to broadcast it on their tv towers.

Would be very embarrassing for Virgin Media if the HD channel launches on FreeSat HD yet paying Virgin Media customers can't get it.

That is going to confuse their Freeview customers even more. "So you say you are on Freeview HD but you are not on Freeview in HD, I have to go somewhere else for that". They are stilll having to explain to people why some areas cant get it on Freeview when "all you need is a Freeviw HD set". No mention of it only being available to 75% of the country.

I don't think it will bother VM. RT HD has been on Freesat for sometime & its not on Virgin.

Yes, I'm not quite sure how this fits in with the 'coming soon' theme. Maybe we should open a new one called 'All our yesterdays'!

It certainly would, although I do think we would know by now if that was going to be the case.

However, I must say I didn't realise until reading my TV & Satellite magazine today that the additinal Eurosport channels screening during the Olympics are Virgin exclusives. That's right, they are not on Sky!

Hopefully, this is a sign that Virgin are finally making moves to compete better with Sky and BT on content.

Sky prides itself on its sport and has a higher proportion of Sky Sports subscribers than VM (c 60% v 20%) so I'm very surprised they haven't announced they're getting the channels.
