I got a high score of 11400, elbow is feeling a LOT better, but now can't seem to break 11,000 any more.

Also started getting cramp in my palm :(

Need to take it easy for a few days.

Since the coil is wound around a groove, you need to pull it out in the same direction as the groove.

Ive broken mine :( I was using it as usual then all of a sudden the spin got easy, now it will not start properly and spins to fast :mad:

assuming you got summat in there to artificially lubricate it, try drying it out for a few days in the airing cupboard?

nope I was just using it as normal, spun it in one hand let it slow down and continued spinning with no resistance,im not stupid enough to have lubed it up, also it has not been dropped or missused in any way

Nah!I can only plead it's been a very long day.Went to London at 8 this morning finally got home at 23.45.Cr@p train service out of whack to to cancellations,bad weather and signal failures.Got soaked in a lousy storm in Leicester Square and had to buy a lousy umbrella.Same cr@p train service coming back.

Got home got on the Gosport ferry hoping to get over to the other side to catch last bus home and had to wait for 20 minutes before they decided to finally sail.Missed last bus.Went to taxi rank.Only by this time EVERYONE has finished with Festival of The Bluddy Sea and there are too many queueing for taxis.Then we crawled all the way home through everyone driving out of Gosport to go home.The only bright spot was that the couple I offered to drop off on the way paid so much for the taxi fare I didn't have to pay anything.

Now I really should go to bed.Silly son could have a lie-in tomorrow but 'wants to get into college early'..WHY? asks my very suspicious mind......

Its definately sorted a long term wrist injury for me and it was no kind of cramp thank you very much ;) I use it regular and the injury does not flair up anymore. Whne I dont use it for any perlonged period it does flare back up

I've been thinking of getting 1 of these Powerballs, specifically the Signature Edition, as it comes with a wrist strap & 3 pull cords. What I'm wondering though is do you still get the lifetime guarantee if you get it from Play.com instead of direct from the manufacturer?

im still using mine as part of my training. I do my skipping then my weights then blitz my forearms with the powerball :)I bought mine from play a good while ago now and its still working fine

Only if you involve your entire arm in spinning the ball.
There are better ways of getting rid of 'bingo wings' than using a powerball (which is really for forearm development)

tin of beans ... Lift and hold your elbow so its pointing directly up (with arm bent) holding a tin of beans raise and lower your lower arm keeping your elbow pointing up for the duration.

you spin it fast enough and get the giro effect it took me about 10 minutes to get it going the first time. As the force increases slow the spin until you get a rhythm

you could try someone else getting it going for you & then put it in your hand for you to keep it going (ooer mrs) ....

seriously though, once you do get 'the knack', it suddenly becomes a lot easier - you need to relax your wrist & get the rotation going with just the wrist action & gradually involve your forearm more as the speed increases :)

If you whip the string out and make sure you grip the Powerball really tight, you should notice the rotor not only spinning about it's axle, but also rotating around the inside of the plastic casing, and you'll feel it moving your wrist slightly in circles. Keep your wrist moving in those circles and the rotor will keep spinning.

I'm sure there are plenty out there where people just don't get it, but it's a shame...I've been Powerballing two and a half years and I still love it...rarely a day goes by where I don't use one a bit. (And at 36 my arms have never been in such good shape!) :p:

My son discovered mine gathering dust behind the piano the other day and has been asking me what it is. He got it out yesterday and insisted on a demonstration. That's the first time I've used it in months, but now it's out, I think I'll try to keep it up ...

Finally got round to ordering mine. Hopefully it'll help with my wrists & forearms [too much mouse & keyboard use].

Are they good for arthritis as well? The reason I ask is that my mum has arthritis in her wrist, & I was wondering if a Powerball might be usefull to her. The reason I'm a bit hesitant about getting her to try mine is I wouldn't want to do anything that might lead to her getting hurt - she's... well, as she would put it, "not as young as young as she used to be", & has had to have surgery for stuff that would have just given you or I a few bruises. If it would be beneficial to her then great, but if it could make her wrist worse I wouldn't want to risk it.

Rammy is, obviously, the man, for this question, but just to comment, in my opinion, a powerball won't put cartilage back, where it doesn't exist, but it may maintain that which is there ;)

It makes climbing quite a lot more difficult, but cycling one handed should be ok ;) :D

If I remember correctly mine cost more than that and it is only a neon, which I mainly use to help keep my wrists supple, but it also seems to do a good job of toning up the forearm muscles, too :)

I'm not 100% sure either, but that link earlier points to the Signature Series White Neon Powerball, and only RPM Sports, (www.powerballs.com), produce such a Powerball. So the lifetime parts replacement warranty should still apply.

The short answer is that it might help or it might make her more sore. :disturbd:
It all depends on her arthritis, her mobility, coordination etc....
If in doubt, don't let her use it; she might not even have the coordination to be able to use it!
If she can get on with it then start her off really gently; not much use and moniter her discomfort levels from using it. If she is really elderly and arthritic/osteoporotic then it's probably best not to let her at it....

It certainly does appear to be a genuine RPM product, but I was basing my comment on the reply I got from them about whether 1 bought from Play would be covered.
This seems to imply that if a genuine product was bought from somewhere that isn't an official reseller then it wouldn't be covered.

She's not that old [though she looks younger than she is]. As for frailty... :shrug: She broke her hip a few years ago when she trod on something that slipped out from under her foot & as a result fell backwards. She had to have surgery last year on 1 of her hands [I forget which] when the dog she had at the time [a LARGE greyhound] suddenly tried to bolt after a cat and she wasn't holding the lead quite right. I don't think her coordination is too bad, as she still does beading with some very small & fiddly beads, & I don't think she'd be able to do that if she was "all fingers & thumbs".

I think I'll show her how it's done, & then as per you suggestion get her to try it very gently - just enough to keep it going, & stop if she has any discomfort.

Alien, with your mum just make sure she uses it at relatively low speeds for 5-10 minutes at a time. People don't get the technique straight off so it'll take a bit of practice to get the thing going and more importantly keeping it going. It's a proven exercise tool that has helped an array of conditions if used correctly, so your mother should benefit from it. I myself have now much more toned arms and stronger wrist and finger joints from using the ball for an hour twice a week.

I can't comment on your mum, but in my mum's case I agree with Rammy's cautiousness, given the probs she's had. For example, last Sunday when I was round there, she was telling me that she could barely move her wrist in the morning, but after wearing her splint/support thingy all day, in the evening she was able to move it normally.

Well, as I mentioned in the Happy Thought thread, mine arrived this morning. It's a rather weird feeling, but doesn't take too long to get the hang of it & keep it going. My arms ache a bit, due to it being rather addictive. :) The thing I'm not so keen on is how bright the lights are, but it's not really a problem to just shut my eyes, as you don't need to look at it once it's spinning - the important thing once it's spinning is the way it feels. It's kind of like swirling water round in a bucket by actually moving the bucket, rather than using something to stir it. Once it gains momentum, if you stop putting so much effort into moving the bucket, you can feel the water trying to move the bucket. The feeling you get when trying to keep a Powerball going is rather similar to that.

I thought i'd dig mine out as my wrist has been achey of late. Im not sure why but it doesn't seem to really spin anymore, it gets to 3k and wont go any faster? I was 10k+ before, any ideas?
