I've now had ringing in my right ear since yesterday afternoon as well as headache and muffled hearing. Call to GP and luckily got an appointment. Turns out I have an ear infection. 5 day course of antibiotics and hopefully it'll be sorted.

Ok thats interesting.... You get a high pitched tone with an ear infection also..... (I hope ya feel better soon)

The quieston is: What causes the tone and what allows it to go away??

Guessing inflammation or the ear canal and inner ear. As it can affect balance too.

Yes its quite a bugger!!

I went to a herb doctor years ago and he suggested taking some herbs FOR A YEAR and he said it might or might not help my tone......

I have been looking at other stuff recently. This says BASIL OIL helps reduce it but I dont know how to take it!

When I was younger I always got this same ring when I had an ear infection.... When the infection went away,so did the tone and 1 time after the infection,the tone did not go away...

Im wondering if its not tinnitus I have but something in my brain that could be reset somehow and the tone will go away?? (I have had it 30+ years now constant)

No, its definitely tinnitus I've had it since my ear infection at the start of this year. Sometimes it varies in volume and tone or occasionally the sound of it changes completely.

Sometimes I don't even notice it at all.

Im sorry your going thru this also Stevie..... 1 would hope there would be some easy solution for us....
