Yeah I'm jesting about the recent (ongoing) complaints about VM's access to Youtube's CDN...

With Google owning youtube, one would assume that Googles DNS would be aware of youtubes CDN arrangements with various providers and have those incorporated into its DNS results accordingly.

You'd think that, wouldn't you. However, it's likely not as simple as this because the CDN the Google DNS gives you will be based off of the location of the DNS server, not the request (i.e. you). I believe Google does have a proposal to change this but I don't know if it's being used or not.

There may be some discrepancies still, such as getting a CDN from Europe where they may actually have one in the UK itself, it won't be as bad as some people think.

yeah but major isps tend to have cdn's inside their network or right on the edge of their network's which should 'usually' be better than just regional ones. Although not sure in VM's case.

Indeed, I'm not sure on this one either. I've certainly never seen it mentioned or referenced but that's not to say it doesn't exist.

From the weekend just gone, browsing has gone back to normally.
So really not 100% sure what it was.
