Total waste of money - you pull this cord thing, it kind of whirrs and flashes its lights for 10 seconds, then the ball in it slows to a halt, and that's it :td:

doesn't sound like you got the knack of keeping it going and speeding it up to the point that the gyro effect kicks in, Cookie ;)

yes it does require a degree of effort hence the conditioning effects ;)

No doubt there are millions of these things lying unused because the people who wasted money on them discovered they also didn't have this magical knack :(

you spin it fast enough and get the giro effect it took me about 10 minutes to get it going the first time. As the force increases slow the spin until you get a rhythm

you could try someone else getting it going for you & then put it in your hand for you to keep it going (ooer mrs) ....

seriously though, once you do get 'the knack', it suddenly becomes a lot easier - you need to relax your wrist & get the rotation going with just the wrist action & gradually involve your forearm more as the speed increases :)

If you whip the string out and make sure you grip the Powerball really tight, you should notice the rotor not only spinning about it's axle, but also rotating around the inside of the plastic casing, and you'll feel it moving your wrist slightly in circles. Keep your wrist moving in those circles and the rotor will keep spinning.

I'm sure there are plenty out there where people just don't get it, but it's a shame...I've been Powerballing two and a half years and I still love it...rarely a day goes by where I don't use one a bit. (And at 36 my arms have never been in such good shape!) :p:

My son discovered mine gathering dust behind the piano the other day and has been asking me what it is. He got it out yesterday and insisted on a demonstration. That's the first time I've used it in months, but now it's out, I think I'll try to keep it up ...

Finally got round to ordering mine. Hopefully it'll help with my wrists & forearms [too much mouse & keyboard use].

Are they good for arthritis as well? The reason I ask is that my mum has arthritis in her wrist, & I was wondering if a Powerball might be usefull to her. The reason I'm a bit hesitant about getting her to try mine is I wouldn't want to do anything that might lead to her getting hurt - she's... well, as she would put it, "not as young as young as she used to be", & has had to have surgery for stuff that would have just given you or I a few bruises. If it would be beneficial to her then great, but if it could make her wrist worse I wouldn't want to risk it.

Rammy is, obviously, the man, for this question, but just to comment, in my opinion, a powerball won't put cartilage back, where it doesn't exist, but it may maintain that which is there ;)
