Don't touch ZA with a barge poll, it'll slow your connection down.

Tried the IP, page cannot be found (aka blank nothingness on firefox).

Basically the problems are listed at: http://www.markofchaos.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1424, and solution being http://www.markofchaos.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1429.

Im just going to try the idea above about deleting all gamespy references and then loading it up to see what comes up.

Hehe, ive been using it for a good few years now (this and me old laptop) and havent really noticed much of a problem with it, except its over zealous protection at times when it comes to situations such as ports in this case.

If you recommend any other decent and free firewalls which allow for specific port openings, hey feel free to list em' ;)

the ip wont show anything in firefox if you type it because theres no webserver running on your pc. if nothing shows it doesnt mean that its not your ip.

Like I said in a previous post, delete all references to the game and gamespy, then run the software and ZA should start asking for permissions for the programs in use. This will tell you which ones are needed, you can then go back into ZA and adjust settings if needed.

After having problems with it after an update i ditched it and went to Kerio which is a very good free firewall. I'm unsure about ports and stuff though.

Here's an example thread of how ZA can affect your download speed on NTL. :)

You can get your IP from www.abyssunderground.co.uk/ip the person with the sig that shows the IP, thats wrong as it shows NTL's transparent proxy IP for me. My script overcomes it if there is one.

Temporally install Abyss Web Server from www.aprelium.com so you can get a page when you type in your IP (It will be a congradulations page).

Temporaly disable all firewalls and try access the webserver with the IP you got above. If it works, you can now enable the firewall and configure it again so you can see the page still. Once youve done that you can reconfigure the firewall the same way for your games. You can then uninstall the web server if you wish as you no longer need it unless you intend to run a website.

NOTE: If you have a router you need to forward ports on that too.

I run a site to do with setting up a web server at home and it is almost the same for setting up games.
