Re: Access restrictions: What the freaking heck am I doing wrong?
It doesn't. That's precisely the problem, and the reason I've opened a live chat with someone at Linksys. Except that nobody's answering.
I told you I was tearing my hair out! |

Guess? :D
It seems kind of stupid, maybe they forgot to put it on the label....:dunce: |
Re: Access restrictions: What the freaking heck am I doing wrong?
Well, back to the original issue, and having done lots of experimenting I'm now fairly sure that all my blocked domains and blocked keywords have to be contained within the same policy. This is a tad restrictive as there are only 4 domain fields and 5 keyword fields, but it's better than nothing.

Thats rubbish. Couldn't you block the pron sites from OpenDNS and everything you want to be able to turn on and off, on the router?

Re: Access restrictions: What the freaking heck am I doing wrong?
The porn sites are indeed blocked in OpenDNS, and it works extremely well. What I wanted to do on top of that was two things:
1. Block porn-related keywords in the router so you can't even google them. I've not yet found a way in OpenDNS to allow search engine access while at the same time blocking certain searches. 2. Block youtube in the router rather than in OpenDNS so it's quicker to switch on/off. |

O i see, maybe a software option is perhaps better for your needs, if you find the others too restrictive? I don't have any suggestions though, kids arn't an issue for me, yet
