Re: Online Banking

Hi All,
I've had this fault with another bank before today.I find if you empty the cache and if needed try another proxy just while you are on the bank site.Seems to clear it for some reason or other.
George.

TOP Answer - doh - The simplest solutions are commonly right - well done

Yup empty cache and cookies is looking like the answer

Any hoo,
Have you recently installed anything on your computer(s)? IE7, Messenger Live, etc?
Do you have all the latest patches on your computers?
Has anything changed on your router?
Have you checked your firewall rules?
Have you run anti-spyware/anti-virus recently, to make sure nothing "dodgy" is on your computer

Yeh - if you read my original post... I have installed nothing, I've changed no settings, and this happens on all 3 pc on my home network - ie there is something in the connection blocking it not the pc... and it always worked fine until this week (I banked with them for about 5years or so).

This happens on all 3 pc on my home network, so is not a cache issue... and I don't use proxy.

Have you tried clearing the cache AND cookies : shutting down the browser and restarting the browser as we suggested ?

Sorry about the stupid suggestions - I had been distracted by the baying of the "Install Linux" crowd.

Query - how can you not use proxy if you have Cable (as stated under your cute doggy picture)?

And have you tried clearing down the cache, closing the browser, and trying again?

AFAIK proxies are not relevant for https sites, although if the bank uses an http portal before loading the secure site, it may be a factor???

AFAIK Blueyonder customers have never used proxy... I have been with them about 7 years and never used proxy. Why would I need to when I have a direct connection?

Yes, I've cleared the cache, etc, but this is happening with all 3 pc on my home network... how can it be a cache issue when the other 2 pc never visited the site before I started experiencing problems this week?

He's probably online managing his sizable portfolio....

I've noticed a lot of bugs on the standardlife website but came across this :

Why can't I see the online banking screen when I log in?

Our online services open in a new window. If this window does not appear, you may need to check any pop-up blocking software you have installed and add our site to your list of allowed sites.

If your pop-up blocking software is part of a firewall you have installed, please check with the software vendor on how to do this - most will have instructions on their company website. If you are using the software as part of the Microsoft Windows XP operating system, full details can be found on this link:

EDIT

Just because you could access a website yesterday doesnt mean you'll get the same response today... Software is changing on a daily basis and so do websites

Yes... I've tried all that... but it doesn't explain why the same issue occurs on the other 2 pc on the network which didn't visit that site before this week?

I spent a while browsing their help files before posting... I even called them but they say noone else reported a fault.

The site itself is working... I enter my login details and the "account" box pops up with my details, etc.. as it should... but takes a good 5 mins to finish loading (it generally only takes about 20 seconds)... and then when I click my account to do some online banking it times out because the page took so long to load in the first instance. So I don't think it's a popup issue.

Please check the pop up issue as I have posted above

Perhaps so... but it's not something I've ever actively changed or needed to.. so I'm not clear how I am meant to "try another proxy".

Have you called up standardlife and told them of the problems you have been having ?
