I currently have the ntl family pack; mainly because I like discovery and national geographic; however, i notice that according to the leaflet i will need to get virgin L & XL to receive both channels - does anyone know if existing customers will get any preference in this respect?

No the Family Pack is becoming XL TV, so you won't need to change anything.

Officially rollout will start on the 14th and everyone should have the new EPG by June. Glasgow and Swindon got it this week as an extention to the trial rollout.

Re: Virgin Media Info

Just ordered my V+ and the customer services guy confirmed rollout is the 8th - they are going to rotate the new 'infinity' logo 90 degrees to help promote the 8th feb launch date. Also massive tv campaign due to start any day now - tv, billboard etc, during dancing on ice or something... he said that the vibe in customer service is excellent and that changes under virgin have been swift and massive... anyway my V+ is on order so will be waiting with baited breath. Also i live in brighton and he said software change to virgin system is already being rolled out and could appear any day...

---------- Post added at 22:21 ---------- Previous post was at 22:04 ----------

also I have just noticed that 'Virgin Central' has appeared under TV hits in the On Demand service... and is it my imagination or has the quality of the movies avaiable started to improve... ???

There is also a new website www.knowfirst.co.uk which has details about the new company. :)

I think if Richard Branson should include as a state of urgency on help department, it must be the worst in the among a lot of providers, so many computer mags put it at the bottom of the leauge I can understand that after my experiance with it, all they seem to do is like a game of pass the parcel with the customer always losing, must admit they have impresive titles like Customer Loyalty & Resolution Manager also Customer Concern,
which in itself is ajoke.

Well Virgin trains and NTL must work hand in hand if the help line with is as bad as Virgin trains

New name same rubbish over priced product if you ask me.

Unless they get their products to match Sky both feature and price wise as well as giving me a damb good reason to switch on top of this like some killer feature Sky can't provide* then I'll not touch them with a barge pole after last time.

*Not even VOD is going to get me there - Sky are well on the way to launching theirs I believe

Re: Virgin Media Info

Hi,

I received my letter & package from Richard Branson yesterday and was impressed by what it stated and thought well done him. He has got to do a better job that NTL one hopes! I browsed the web page, a bit cheesy and not that impressive. So I thought I would ring the number given as I was most interested in upgrading my NTL package to TV, Broadband, Telephone & Mobiles. An all in one package so to speak? However it seems you cant get the whole package through one operator therefore you would have to be passed from pillar to post to acheive this. This is when matters start to go wrong, causing confusion and upset because as soon as more than one get involved and no matter how hard they try, it would surely go pear shaped. Not impressed, not able to cater for each individual customer's requirements, therefore loosing them business.

weve got it in the bellshill customer management centre and it looks a little more nifty but the thing i noticed, it was more responsive with regards to remote control commands.

afaik all v+hd boxes come with the uk2 code (the new virgin interface) already built in and any ex ntl:telewest chaps should get it loaded onto their stb sometime march i reckon. dunno exact dates! :(

looking forward to it though!

spoke to ntl on phone as far as sales are concerned there is no plans to upgrade my area to digital or even broadband capability, guy sounded honest rather then giving me an easy answer.
