ntl:Telewest have recently signed a partnership with dating company DatingDirect to provide an ntl-branded dating service to subscribers visiting the ntlworld.com customer portal. ntl customers will be able to search for a soulmate from among DatingDirect.com’s 3.7 million online members.
Unfortunately further details are scarce as ntl:Telewest did not contact us with any details via the usual communication channels as previously arranged. However, from viewing the ntlworld dating channel, we can tell that ntl and Telewest have 41% on the love calculator. Not exactly a match made in heaven, but time will tell.
Also noteworthy is that when I was visiting, ntl were kind enough to recommend the chat-up line “I lost my phone number. Can I have yours?” If this is not original enough for you, then the new portal also offers links to “buy a sexy outfit” or “buy a book on flirting”.
Chad Raube, director of Internet at NTL, offered this insight into the British online dating scene, saying: “Dating online is now hugely popular and our customers want a safe and easy to use service. We are now able to provide our customers with the UK’s largest database of singletons integrated seamlessly within our site.â€ÂÂÂ
In other news today, shares of ntl:Telewest climbed after a Credit Suisse analyst upgraded the cableco to “Outperform” from “Neutral”, saying its stock price already reflects a more pessimistic scenario than will actually play out when it comes to competition from unbundlers.
