How to Log into Virgin Router?

Installed a new Virgin Super Hub Hi speed router (Netgear) last week and set it up, no problem.
I use fixed ip 192.168.1.2 up to 192.168.1.10 the rest is DHCP
Changed the wireless encription Key
Changed the login details, No Problem.
Logged in and out no problem

Love the broadband speed 58.78MMb/s down and 2.87 Mb/s up!

Problem:
Now I cant log in. Times out before I get to the login
When I enter the address 192.x.x.1 using any brouser it just times out.
When I ping it I get
Pinging 192.168.0.1 with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 192.168.1.1: bytes=32 time=1ms TTL=64
Reply from 192.168.1.1: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=64
Reply from 192.168.1.1: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=64
Reply from 192.168...1: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=64

Ran windows Diagnostics and the error message said "the remote device or resource won't accept the connection. Has Virgin locked it?
Can anyone help?

I wanted to check the lease time as the Ipad drops out every so often

Re: How to Log into Virgin Router?

Have you tried switching it off and on again?

Re: How to Log into Virgin Router?

That sometimes happens with mine also. Switching it off and on again usually fixes it.

Have you got a proxy set in your browser by any chance.

Re: How to Log into Virgin Router?

deary me dudes, I am so disappointed in you all.

If you are using the shub in routing mode the ip address is 192.168.0.1. You can always see what the address of your default gateway is (router) by clicking on start, run, cmd, ipconfig, enter

edit: I have just read the post again and seen he new that Maybe it is because the shub is too simple and doesnt like being in a different subnet. Why dont you set your static ips to 192.168.0.2-10?

Smile Re: How to Log into Virgin Router?

Hi Gentelmen
Thanks for all your help!

Can't believe " have you switched if off then on again " worked.
Looking at the logs I found this

Description Count Last Occurence Target Source
ICMP REQ/REP w/MC or BC DEST addr 4 Mon May 21 18:20:12 2012 192.168.0.0:0 192.168.0.16:0

Illegal TCP header 6 Thu May 24 01:25:11 2012 50.17.0.54:0 192.168.0.16:0

ICMP REQ/REP w/MC or BC DEST addr 2 Fri May 25 19:13:34 2012 192.168.0.0:0 192.168.0.14:0

Illegal TCP header 31 Sun May 27 11:17:33 2012 192.168.0.1:0 192.168.0.16:0

ICMP REQ/REP w/MC or BC DEST addr 4 Mon May 28 18:33:40 2012 192.168.0.0:0 192.168.0.18:0

Illegal TCP header 11 Mon May 28 19:00:11 2012 192.168.0.1:0 192.168.0.18:0

ICMP REQ/REP w/MC or BC DEST addr 4 Mon May 28 21:04:23 2012 192.168.0.0:0 192.168.0.18:0

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
BTW

Pinging 192.168.0.1 and getting a replay from 192.168.1.1 was a Typo!

Cheers
