That's strange. You would have thought it would auto select the best possible format.
I'll just select the 4k setting on the v6 to see if there is any difference.
Cheers for the info

Re: UHD on Virgin Media
Sounds like it was a success, shame I couldn't get it to work on channel 100, when I pressed Red I just got a "Bridge unavailable" error constantly (red button usually works fine).
Watched it on youtube instead, loaded first time and was stable for the entire match.
Virgin TV = Fail
Virgin Broadband = Win

Never thought to try 4K YouTube on V6 though.

Re: UHD on Virgin Media
I just used the YouTube app on my android tv, confirmed it was 4K and didn't stutter once.
Red Button is back to working on channel 100 now, i assumed the service was under too much load

Re: UHD on Virgin Media
It couldn’t have been under load if it was broadcast and not streamed over the internet, like with BT Vision.

Re: UHD on Virgin Media
UHD won't work for me unless you can record!
I came in around 8:15 so would have missed the first 30 mins

So if you select 4K only, will the V6 still show SD and HD material?

More likely the problem is his screen size, viewing distance, eyes, or some combination of these. I have a 47" UHD TV about 3 metres from my desk, and I can't see the difference on that either. But I have seen plenty of stunning UHD on larger or closer TVs.

The behaviour might vary depending on whether you have the new V6 software that's currently on pilot. I know OLD BOY has it, and I suspect Ultimate.Conj does too (being in Berkshire)

Mine did seem to switch to uhd automatically as I could see the difference when switching back to the hd channel.
The picture on my tv was really clear, in my opinion it was a success.
I accessed the uhd feed via the red button on ch 528

Re: UHD on Virgin Media
I'm thinking the BT 4K feed had no 4K signal 'flag' embedded within it so our TVs still say '1080p' or whatever they said before we pressed the red button. The football last night was definitely better than HD, the sharpness, clarity, and movement were all improved. Colours seemed improved as well. My TV is a 55" Sony XD93 I think 55" is the minimum you need to get at least reasonable benefits from 4K. The French Open was also improved but not as much as the footy to my eyes, the players looked more 'lifelike' though. Overall though I think Wimbledon will look even better in 4K, if we get to see any.

Re: UHD on Virgin Media
I can see the BBC showing Wimbledon in UHD HLG, as they have been trialing UHD for years now and not had the chance yet to show it to the masses. All them blades of grass.
Clashes with the World Cup though.
Trooping The Colour might be in UHD too.
