Censorship on the official VM forum
Is it a new thing? Like half a dozen of "omslemming"'s posts have been deleted in the "Thoughts on the new traffic management policy" thread.
While he's a bit annoying and definitely a drama queen (and very liberal with exclamation marks!!!!), he doesn't seem to have said anything that's against their rules.
I've had a few posts deleted too now, commenting on the fact that his posts were disappeared. First time I've seen posts vanished like that.

Re: Censorship on the official VM forum
They have done it before, not a new thing. The vm forum manager and one or two of the staff are nazi-like when it comes to removing posts that make vm look bad although they hide behind the excuse of protecting vm's image.
To defer blame they used to say that the forum is moderated by lithium staff even when it was obvious when those vm staff deleted posts.
Interesting to read those forums and see posts disappear when many customers are affected by the same problem and are vocal about it

Re: Censorship on the official VM forum
First time I've spotted it, and while I'm disappointed, I can't say I'm surprised. They've been getting a lot of flak because of the new STM, and rightly so.
Now they're going to be trialling yet another STM policy on the 100 and 120mbit tiers. Total fustercluck.

Third tweak to the STM in 2 months. Good to see they think things through.
I've still to be officially informed about the last two...

Re: Censorship on the official VM forum
Keep in mind that acpberax reports posts like no tomorrow on those forums too and is so far up the butts of certain forum staff it would take a surgeon a year to remove his head.
As for the traffic management, just noticed that vm customers can be traffic managed indefinitely with the current policy

Sorry but in this case the above is totally wrong.
Many of onslemmings posts remain and all remaining, quite rightly, slate vm on this particular subject. What has been removed are somewhat of the more vehement ones that often insulted any other members who questioned his views and often made wild unsubstantiated claims.

If this customer doesn’t reduce what they’re doing they will carry on triggering repetitions of the 120 minute policy until their last traffic management session ends, which may be during the off-peak period. Only then will they exit traffic management and their broadband speed return to normal.

I fail to see how my observations are wrong especially when you go on to refer to onslemmings posts which I have not mentioned.

Jeez, even with presented with links to the facts posted by a virgin employee on their official forums you try and turn it around and call me a troll. Your love for virgin may be fanatical but its there in black and white.
I even highlighted the part that says the traffic management goes on past the end of the day.

Some highlighting you did. How about some proper highlighting

So by "indefinitely", you mean "until the end of the day". There's no traffic management at night.
I don't understand you, Qtx, Virgin has plenty of flaws and this new STM policy is a massive misstep, you don't need to make **** up to have a go at them.

Let me repeat what virgin media said again:
Quote:
Customer Three downloads more than the threshold for their tier of service and is traffic managed for the next 60 minutes. They carry on using their connection so heavily that they trigger the 120 minute policy and a further cut in speed. If this customer doesn’t reduce what they’re doing they will carry on triggering repetitions of the 120 minute policy until their last traffic management session ends, which may be during the off-peak period. Only then will they exit traffic management and their broadband speed return to normal
|
This can easily be interpreted as being managed indefinitely as it says: . If this customer doesn’t reduce what they’re doing they will carry on triggering repetitions of the 120 minute policy until their last traffic management session ends
So if you hit the limits again while being managed, you get managed again. Nowhere does it say that this will not happen after a certain time of day. It just says you won't hit the first level of stm if you hit the limits after 11pm or whatever they increased it to recently.
Using huge letters does not make you right, show some actual evidence that the policy is not as virgin have worded it. Seriously What you highlighted is not relevant as if you trigger repetitions until 8am, it will still be beyond the peak time. Read it again, you were too busy throwing a tantrum and following grims usual deflections to actually read the facts.
My guess is virgin is loosing more customers than they expected due to STM and not just the heavy users they wanted rid of. Can't see any other reason they are stating already that they will be bringing in a new traffic management policy in a few months time.

Yes, it does, further up the page
Quote:
When traffic management happens
Monday to Friday: 16:00-23:00
Saturday and Sunday: 11:00-23:00

and then lower down the page
Quote:
We manage traffic between the hours of 4pm to 11pm each weekday and 11am to 11pm at weekends

Quote:
Duration of speed reduction?
For a minimum of 1 to 2 hours depending on the customers usage, but this can last until after the end of peak period if the customer is a heavy user at peak.

Considering the traffic management monitoring stops at 11pm that would be impossible. The latest you can be managed is 1am, at the end of a 2 hour window
Just as with the old policy (that still applies for 20Mbit and below), you could still be managed for up to 5 hours after the end of the monitoring

Re: Censorship on the official VM forum
Virgin also state that the stm can go on beyond those times. They also state that you will get trigger another repetition if you are already managed.
Conflicting or the usual virgin polices which are as clear as mud.
If they don't continuously manage during the night, maybe they should change the page to read: If this customer doesn’t reduce what they’re doing they will carry on triggering repetitions of the 120 minute policy until their last traffic management session ends after <time>
Again if they don't manage during the time when everyone is asleep, it is still possible to be managed for 8 or 9 hours continuously during the week and 13 or 14 hours during the weekend, which is most of the usual customers awake time.
Neither are good.
Thread derailed anyway, this should be about VM forums and their staff censoring posts.
