True but even fast forwarding through the ads you still watch them don't you?

I'm hating the latest Vodafone advert at the moment. It seems to be on during every advert break.

Re: What are your best and worse TV ads?

Pretty much every other advert on tv at the moment. There seems to be some school of thought which is under the impression that annoyance sells:

Plusnet (need I say more)

That crappy Ghostbusters themed ad for some debit card or other - Yes let's desecrate a movie which was pretty awful first time around

The Flash advert - oh what tune shall we set this advert to? how original

And the music in that Hyundai ad really, really grinds my gears. Lucky lucky me... lucky you when you try to sell that car in 5 years time and it's worth absolutely sod all

These days the TV goes on mute in our house when the ad breaks are on

I really like that Halifax advert. Done pretty well and also Ghostbusters is a brilliant movie.

I'm really finding the Nationwide advert with the 'old Grannies' very irritating. Especially the one on the left side of the screen, the faces she pulls!

I loved Ghostbusters too but it was a terrible movie in the great scheme of things A bit like Toxic Avenger: pretty awful but how can you not like it?

... and how very dare Halifax cheapen it using annoying, shouty bloke with regional accent formula. Tsk.

BEST: None
WORST: All

Unless I can find some in glorious analogue (On VHS from the 80s or earlier for example)

Those commercials are GOOD.... The garbage on now is just mindless gutter trash trying to extract as much $$$ as they can...

I know you're into analogue music but surely you're not trying to say analogue TV gives a better picture than a digital picture on a modern telly?

Re: What are your best and worse TV ads?

Everyone predominantly moans about ads but this has just home up on my recommended list and you really should watch it when you have got 10 mins. If not watch the first one, then skip to 2:05 and then 9:50.

Stupid bloody Vax carpet cleaning ad: PANIC!!! Your carpet is full of bacteria and only product X will rescue you. FFS The world is full of bacteria, you're covered in bacteria and your body is full of bacteria.

Advert aimed squarely at paranoid women.

I think you will find all adverts ever come under that bracket as that is the role of advertisements and the marketing companies that come up with them.

I agree that 99.9% of ads are rubbish but there are a couple of special ones where a lot of thought goes into them.

The compare the meerkat adverts are a stroke of genius. I won't post all all of them because there are tonnes but you can have a look at a listing here if you want to watch them. The ones below are what started it all off and are many years old. If you haven't seen them watch them in the order I have posted:

I can always tell when an advert works on me (which is rare) because I actually want to go and buy something. When they annoy me though, like the gocompare adverts, I won't use them out of principle.
