FM Hook-Up
Hi, (couldn't find a better place to put this)
I am hoping some people have details on the FM Hook-Up facility. I mainly want it for better quality reception of Virgin, so was wondering where the signals are sourced. I'm also getting the 60 day BB Trial installed and was hoping the enginneer who comes round could sort this at the same time, but was told this would be a different engineer - is this correct? I phoned back to which the woman didn't seem to know about the service but quoted a £50 callout charge and suggested it would be easier getting the cable from Comet! I am in the Glasgow area, if that helps,
Cheers
(btw, I have read the guide linked from nthw.co.uk homepage)

Re: FM Hook-Up
It all comes down the same cable so what you need to do is ask your engineer to put another cable outlet near your tuner (and offer tea, biccies etc). Then plug it into your radio and see what you get.

Re: FM Hook-Up
There are lots of details here:
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/altisuk/fm/index.htm
...but I think you've already found that.
The Glasgow region seems to be quite well endowed in the FM department with 14 active radio channels and 5 'TV' channels.
If the first engineer won't connect it up for you, don't worry, it's an easy job to do it yourself. Just make sure he fits an isolator with an FM output - I'm pretty sure he will.

I just knocked up a lead from the FM output to my stereo with no problems. I can now listen to Steve Penk on Key 103. I pick up a few TV channels but not my local (2BR) station but hey... it's cr@p anyway

Unfortunately, Virgin was dropped from the NTL FM hookup a couple of months back.

Re: FM Hook-Up
Because it's now on the upper range of radio channels broadcast through the STB.

Re: FM Hook-Up
Can't you get some speakers and listen through your set top box?

Analogue cable = no radio via STB. (And there are many reasons - most including £ÃÆ ’‚£Ãà¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã…¡Ãƒâ€šÃ‚£s - why I won't be going digital for now).
Thanks for the help anyway

Re: FM Hook-Up
Depends what you want
http://www.home.ntl.com/icat/tvpackages
Analogue pack has some channels that require more than the digital base pack including British Eurosport, Sky One, ITV2, E4 and Sky Sports News, VH1, Sci-Fi & Plus.
So if you want these channels and don't want to pay the extra £10 for the family pack it saves £7 a month.
