Wii U
http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology...-games-console
Graphics 'on-par' with PS3 and 360 but more importantly a new controller and favorable reviews from the people who have used it.
I really want this already

Re: Wii U
Its meant to be taking the whole Wii is for everyone i.e. think of it as we. The Wii U is taking that further and also its for you.
Or some other nonsense lol.
The idea of transfering gameplay from your TV to controller screen when someone else wants to use the TV is a pretty clever idea.

Re: Wii U
Wii U Proabably a hommage to the fact its a bit of a U turn by Nintendo on the type of controller we should be using to game with... not my kind of thing, as I'm guessing a controller of that type would be VERY expensive!

Re: Wii U
Apparently the controllers won't be that expensive. It will also be a cheaper resistive screen rather than multi touch capacitive.

Re: Wii U
''on par with the 360 and PS3''
Not exactly a brilliant comment to make when the whole point of competition is to out do the others. Its clear Sony or Microsoft will be revealing new consoles next year or even both. Then again what much more could you do to a console that is not already in the 3 above.
We knew it was coming but other than HD capability and a fancy controller there is not a lot special about it that makes it different from Kinect which is probably the better of the two.

Re: Wii U
Sony or Microsoft won't release a new console for at least 3 year. Kinect and Move have only been out 12 month and are both quite popular. They will wait to see what happens with technology and especially what happens with 3D and TV resolutions.
I imagine most people who use 360 and PS3 aren't too bothered by the fact PC has 'better graphics' and most won't even notice. I simply prefer a controller to keyboard andmMouse, and I can't wait for the Wii U for the usual supply of Metroid and Mario to play on this and the 3DS.

There's been PS3/Xbox style controllers available for the PC for years
No matter what the latest is though you still can't beat Super Mario Kart on the SNES

Doesn't matter if they eventually get outdone in terms of graphics by Microsoft and Sony. The graphics will be good enough which is all that really matters. Nintendo's strong point is the quality and sheer fun of their games and that's the strength they cater for when they make their consoles.
The Kinect hasn't really worked so far and Microsoft's E3 showing was poor. The Kinect seemed to be shoehorned into existing popular games as a side feature, nothing core to the game just a little gimmick tacked on. In Mass Effect 3 you can speak the line of dialogue rather than select it? Not only is that a nothing feature it's one that won't be used.
It remains to be seen how good the Wii U is but it looks like it will again offer something different and fun. It would be foolish to dismiss it as people dismissed the DS and the Wii initially. Nintendo know how to make fun games and fun consoles.

Re: Wii U
Yeah, that Mass Effect 3 demo could of been done using a headset. Pointless feature. I've not played a Wii but it'll be interesting to see how this one turns out.

Re: Wii U
They have to get the inital price right for the comsumer to of cause. I think the days of being able to charge £400 for a new console are gone.
If the new Wii U will be on par with the 360 & PS3 how are they going to price it seeing as a basic 360 & PS3 will be about the £100 each for a new 1 by summer 2012 to get the last sales value before developing the next generation?.
The Wii U would probably have to be sold for no more that £250 if even that much as any more and they risk trying to sell a similar capable console to whats already out for more than 250% the asking price of the other consoles. Of cause they could sell at a big loss for the first 12 months untill production costs drop a lot it it does take off and then make the money back in the second year with higher sales and software. So for me the pricing will be as interesting as how the console will feel once bought.
