http://sphotos-a.ak.fbcdn.net/hphoto...30452423_n.jpg Too big to post

Just down the road from me, part of a collection that I assume used to be part of RAF Usworth, which no longer exists, formerly being where the Nissan Plant is now located in Sunderland.

I have little experience with aircraft apart from the major ones so no idea what the following are.

first one is an English Electric Lightning. In the hangar in the second pic I can see a Gloster Meteor in the middle background on the right. Don't know what the green one in the foreground is.

I suspect it's a Hawker Hunter although it'd look better in black

Burma Spitfire hunters discover crate

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-20957162

Quote:
British experts looking for a cache of World War II Spitfire planes believed to be buried in Burma say they have discovered a crate.

The team has lowered a camera into the crate in the Kachin state capital Myitkyina, but says muddy water has stopped them identifying the contents.

Project leader David Cundall described the development as "very encouraging".

The team believes that more than 120 unused Spitfires could be buried in sites across Burma.
