Spurs played well but a very strange performance from United when not a single player had a half decent game?

Re: Season 2017/2018
Just got home from Old Trafford in time to see Arsenal’s 4th goal, how on earth did the linesman miss that offside, a strong argument in favour of VAR if ever I saw one?

And that is why you need VAR...

Can see Lamela getting a ban for diving tomorrow. He's barely touched Lamela there, he's pulling out of it and Lamela throws himself at him, there's shielding the ball and there's that..

Re: Season 2017/2018
I think most of us would have collapsed if Van Dyck had whacked us in the back of the leg like that. A good game for us neutrals. Don’t rate John Moss but one way or another they arrived at the correct decisions IMHO.

Re: Season 2017/2018
The officials in my opinion are just not good enough to make these important decisions on their own..

Re: Season 2017/2018
VAR is a total waste of time. If they cannot rely on the standard of referees. Then they shouldn't be there.
We have seen in recent games where they have used VAR. And the time wasted by using it.
We have cameras for touchline tech. All we have is another company joining the bandwagon.
What's the point of the camera's if you now have VAR

Read up on it more.
VAR is a fifth referee watching a display using existing cameras at PL grounds. They're literally using the cameras available at PL stadiums, that's why they haven't been seen in use in anything lower than the Premier League. There's no outside company. It's a standard fifth referee watching raw feeds from all available cameras.
The main gripe with it, is that it only shows raw feeds, no replays, rendering the entire idea of it a bit pointless. All the fifth referee gets is a slightly improved view at times, his decision making can still be bollocks.
The media and others have hyped it up like it's some form of Hawk-Eye system. It's literally a TV screen and a referee.

Winter break under discussion before new TV deal.

Long overdue IMO.

Re: Season 2017/2018
Finally. I think the final round of games before the break should be New Years Eve tbh.
But if they do this they need to do it a way that doesn't increase the fixture congestion. Packing even more games into the remaining time won't work. It's already crazy around Christmas time with teams playing to three times in a week.
I think they would need to either lengthen the season or take teams in Europe out of the League Cup and maybe abolish FA Cup replays.

The trouble in lengthening the season is it impinges on the summer tournaments like the World cup , etc , etc so your second idea is far more preferable.

Excellent although you better wrap up warm as it can be very very cold at Wembley in late February.

Hopefully it's a nice day. First year with a season ticket so it's also my first cup final.

My late friend went to see his team Bradford in the League cup final and sadly they lost 5-0 and he said that day it felt like minus 3 as there was a severe wind chill whistling across the stadium.
