Conor McGregor vs Floyd Mayweather II - UFC X

X being the placeholder for a future update.

I believe we're getting closer to an announcement after a 'deal' was struck with Floyds current broadcast partner Showtime, to allow Floyd a bout in the Octagon without breaking contract.

The rumoured ruleset last week was rubbished but has since been expanded on by Dana saying they are in fact exploring a ruleset change. This would see the fighters wear traditional 4-5Oz MMA gloves but no takedowns/kicks.

This still suits McGregor overall though, Mayweather can't defend as well through open gloves. Mayweather's biggest asset has always been his shell and counter, something he'll have to scrap here. McGregor will be twofold more accurate, hit harder and will be able to let fly for all 5 rounds.

As stupid as it originally sounded, it does now get more interesting. You'd have to think now that Mayweather stands that punchers chance that Conor did in the boxing bout.

Issues arise that I posted in the previous thread though. Floyd has notoriously poor hands, I wonder how they get around this issue, it's no fun if he breaks his hand with a single shot landed.

Re: Conor McGregor vs Floyd Mayweather II - UFC X

McGregor starts training ahead of return.

Looking highly likely its Khabib and not Mayweather due to the nature of the sparring sessions being wrestling focused.

I call it, the fight is announced for UFC Russia. McGregor baits Khabib into talking about KO's and the Russians along with Khabib go Jose Aldo all over again, he'll successfully bait Khabib into trading on the feet and then he'll knock Khabib out cold in the first round. The whole buildup will get turned into Khabib knocking Conor out which throws out the fact he's nowhere near conor in striking. Just like Aldo he'll forget he's in Mma, he'll come in hot and throw his plan out and then goodnight.

Sadly that's the way the fight has to go for Khabib to come out with anything. The anti-Mcgregor lot would love Khabib to wrestle him for 5 rounds but it won't fly for long. He'll quickly go down as the man that hugged McGregor to a 5 round win.

That's the McGregor issue nowadays. Unless you beat him at his own game like Diaz did, you're still the loser overall. A repeat of Diaz or a clean knockout are the only ways you really win this.

Strangely enough it was Nate Diaz that summed this up best. When McGregor attacked that bus, Khabib wanted nothing to do with him. Had it been Diaz we'd have seen a brawl. Conor is already one up and it hasn't even started.
