Telephone extension for a wireless router

Hello.

I am trying to fit a telephone extension. I currently have one telephone plugged into the only box inside the house which works fine. When I opened up the box there are four wires inside.
Orange,
Black,
White
Green.
The telephone cable that I have bought has four wires also but these are.
Orange with a White band.
White with an Orange band.
Blue with a White band.
White with a Blue band.

Which wires do I connect to each other? I have connected the new extension socket as it has a colour coded diagram on it to help.
I will be plugging in a wireless router to the extension.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Re: Telephone extension for a wireless router

Thanks for the reply. I did think of doing that but I would rather wire it in, as the distance from the old box to the extension is about 16 metres and I cannot find that length of cable with a plug on the end.

lengths vary, search amazon or ebay for RJ11 cables

Re: Telephone extension for a wireless router

Errrr - why on earth do you want to put a telephone extension cable on a wireless router?? Just plug it into the master socket and use it.

Adding an extension into the setup can sometimes cause issues...

Use CW1308, its £10 for 100mtrs from any electrical stockist, put blue/white on No.2 pin and Blue on No. 4 pin, run cable the length you need it and do exactly the same on a new £1.20 master telephone socket
