Re: Red Bull Stratos - a jump from 120,000 feet above earth
Is that Felix Baumgartner? This was covered in the media very widely at the time. There’s no mystery as to how he survived it, he had a pressure suit made for him, IIRC the same kind worn by cosmonauts flying in Soyuz capsules. The mission ground commander was the man who had held the free-fall altitude record up til that point. Ascent was via a balloon, descent nearly killed him when he went into an uncontrolled spin, which Baumgartner saved himself from thanks to already having a great deal of experience at high altitude free fall.
I believe the stunt produced some useful data that has helped NASA develop improved space capsule emergency escape systems.

Yes it's Felix.
He beat the record heald by Joseph Kittinger, who was his jump director.
Felix became the first man to break the sound barrier outside a vehicle.
