Re: Chernobyl

It's a drama.

Yes it's Sky Atlantic, the 5 episode mini series wasade by HBO in partnership with Sky.

Watched the finale and it really was gripping stuff and a really well made show. Have a huge insight into what actually happened and how the Soviets tried to cover it up.

It's a drama heavily influenced by the real events. The first episode is particularly close to the true nature of events with the real names, doing the things they actually did on the night with a lot of the spoken dialogue also being lifted from transcripts.

l just saw several articles the other day that possibly suggested that there might be a second series.

Re: Chernobyl

There would be no reason at all for another series. The story was told in those 5 episodes and there is nothing left to go over. The final moments even summed up what happened afterwards.

It's ratings have even exceeded popular programmes such as Breaking Bad, Blue Planet etc.

It has also had the effect of increasing tourism to Chernobyl, so some of those who enjoyed the show have been prompted to visit the site itself.

How safe it is though, I don't know...

Re: Chernobyl

Yeah it's safe. You do need to be exposed to quite a bit of radiation, and often over a long period (unless it's absurdly high), to get an increased chance of cancer let alone radiation poisoning. See this chart: https://xkcd.com/radiation/

Thanks. Makes you wonder why dentists always leave the room when doing an x ray! I suppose if they do a couple a day for five days a week it all adds up though.

Yeah you have a lifetime exposure limit so, probably out of an abundance of caution, they leave to avoid unnecessary exposure.

Re: Chernobyl

Finished watching it last night, absolutely superb. I know it can't be but I really wish it was a 10 episode season or there could be a second season.
