Re: Changes to Virgin TV (2020)
Hey everyone, hope you are all staying safe and well.
I haven't been on much lately so just catching up.
Has there been any news on the SKY UHD content (Movies & Sports and On-Demand) launching on Virgin. I guess we are still in 2020 so could be anytime, but wondered if it had been postponed?
Cheers

Still waiting and no news, except that we are getting indications that preparations are being made. Watch this space.

Re: Changes to Virgin TV (2020)
It just occurred to me that some of the BBC Red Button cutbacks start soon.
Looked at the Weather on my V6, and big message saying Weather and Lottery ends 4th November (tomorrow).
---------- Post added at 12:04 ---------- Previous post was at 11:58 ----------
And a similar notice says the TV apps for News and Sport ends on 16th and any remaining content will be through iPlayer.
The bit at the bottom of the notice won't (probably) apply on Virgin Media as VM doesn't support the old Text service.

I still use the news red button service daily. I will miss it.
ITV Tyne Tees SD is now on 113, what's the point of that?
Any news on the MTV app launching? I've seen it mentioned a few times this year by Virgin themselves but it hasn't arrived yet.

Because HD is the new normal and so ITV HD has been awarded the highest number available. This is now ITV’s main channel.
The SD channel will be obsolete before too long, I suspect.

Re: Changes to Virgin TV (2020)
Many users are likely to have a series link set for ITV (when it was on 103). This will still work but now on 113.
A Series Link+ will record the HD version of ITV (or the version which starts first) whereever it goes.

That’s right. Nothing for Virgin Media customers to worry about.
However, Sky customers may need to check their planned recordings. I am told that these will need to be changed manually.

That would be remarkable considering they were last to launch HD
You never know, we might get it before Sky UHD arrives!!

Re: Changes to Virgin TV (2020)
I don’t think that will come to pass, Trevor. It’s more likely to be on demand only, due to the bandwidth this would require on Freeview.
