Re: Season 2019/2020 Football
It hasn't solved the pressing issue.
It's still highly unlikely fan attendance will be a thing going forward, for at least the remainder of 2020. Explained on numerous occasions how the PL is barely affected by this but it still remains a massive issue for EFL clubs that can't afford the loss of match day revenue.
I'd originally thought of an agreement to stream games at ticket price cost to offset some losses but this will just cause friction with season ticket holders.

Re: Season 2019/2020 Football
Fairly dire news coming out of Sunderland football club. The clubs parachute payments were used by the owners to leverage the buyout and haven't been paid back along with a £3 million investment from a Uruguayan politician in return for 20% of the club turning out to be an investment of £1, not a million, a literal quid. It all balanced on new owners being found whom have since pulled out of the deal and now Sunderland face a £16 million shortfall and certain administration.
Just to clarify how dodgy this was. The owners used the club to write off the parachute payments debt they borrowed.

Newcastle United appear on the Saudi project and vision 2030 profiles.
Would be awfully embarrassing if it failed now.

When moral values come up against money there is usually only one winner.

Re: Season 2019/2020 Football
Usually I'd just agree but I'm sitting this one out, there's no winners. We're either focusing on a single man's death or excessive human rights violations as a whole. It has to be the latter and if its the latter you lose credibility when you're in bed with Erdoğan, which she is.
Thus you're either against it all or against nothing at all. You don't get to pick and choose and then claim a moral high ground. There shouldn't be sides here. Sides are for political arguments and agendas. You can't talk of moral values when you're being backed by a borderline dictator.
All I really see here is Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Qatar all lecturing each other about morals and rights. Then countries with the power to change it simply not caring.
But they still committed a crime, but then so did X country and so forth. You see why it's a never ending circle of hypocrisy and nonsense, people spend more time trying to discredit the other than actually debating human rights.

Nice swerve by the EFL . . . whatever the outcome there will be clubs unhappy at the final decision, any potential legal actions thrown towards the EFL will be met with "nothing to do with us, you lot voted for it"
Typical high level management, all money no responsibility

Six of the nine directors come from the clubs. I should imagine the clubs have always had the final say on major things, just as with the Premier League.

Re: Season 2019/2020 Football
The UK government has given permission for the Premier League and other professional sports to return behind closed doors from 1 June.
https://www.theguardian.com/football...ight-to-resume
Quote:
The document advises that “organisations should prepare accordingly” for any reopening but states any progress would be dependent on the government’s five tests, which include a “sustained and consistent fall” in the daily death rate as well as the rate of infection decreasing to “manageable levels”.

Absolutely no “permission” has been given for anything.

Helpfully, your post is still there, and quoted in my post, so it is very obvious that that’s exactly what you did say.
Here it is again:

One has to open the link to read the full story which then is more explanatory.
Yes l should have phrased it better granted.
