Change to VM implementation of FFW and REW
I've viewed a few Catch-up and On-Demand shows recently, ones hosted on Virgin Media's systems, and the Fast Forward and Rewind functions no longer update the screen with a speedy playback of the video, you only have the progress bar which is next to useless.
If this was a purposeful decision it's an awful one.

Re: Change to VM implementation of FFW and REW
It's a result of the catch-up and on-demand moving to streaming via the internet connection rather than using the broadcast channels (reduction in VoD transport streams). The same happened to Sky Movies on demand about a year or so ago.

Re: Change to VM implementation of FFW and REW
I thought they'd already done that a while back so I wasn't associating it with that transition.

I thought it was to deter people from fast forwarding through the ads! I do find it very irritating.

As we're paying for VMs 'service' we should be able to skip ads easily, part of what we pay for. If we weren't, fair enough if they forced them on us.

Well, to be fair, the advertisements are paying for or contributing to the cost of the service. I would simply like the choice of paying a bit more to avoid the commercials for the 'on demand' services..
