A huge basketball star. I'll admit I am not a basketball fan but I heard heard of him even if I couldn't tell you why he was good. It seems he was one of the best ever though and at only 41 had only just left that career behind.

Re: Kobe Bryant & his daughter killed in Helicopter crash in California R.I.P

at 18 he was "the next Michael Jordan". most basketball players get through uni due to their basketball prowess, he went straight from highschool and stayed with LA Lakers (arguably the biggest/most famous NBA team in the world) his whole career, and was excellent, one of the best ever.

He's as famous as footballers like Messi, Ronaldo, Beckham, and is referenced in hip hop music etc.

It's the world we live in celebrity deaths are big "news"

I had no idea who he was either.

Even so, really sad that he and his daughter were killed.
He has (had) a wife and another daughter as well, who were not on the copter.

EIP to a great and awazing person and former Basketball star who had so much to give, as well as his talented daughter who was following in her Dad's steps.
