Re: Plane Spotters Corner

Video (from far away and very grainy) of the accident

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/8586114.stm

Says the pilot in hospital dislocated his shoulder (probably the ejection or landing) but yes I count that as a slight accident.. Any landing you walk away from is a good landing whether you be in the plane or not at the time of touching the ground

---------- Post added at 08:05 ---------- Previous post was at 08:03 ----------

Latest from the red arrow's website naming the two pilots

‘‘We can confirm that at 1150 GMT on Tuesday 23 March two Hawk aircraft from the Royal Air Force Red Arrows Aerobatic Team collided whilst undertaking pre-season training at Hellenic Air Force Base Kastelli in Crete. The aircraft were being flown by Flt Lt Mike Ling and Flt Lt David Montenegro. Flt Lt Ling ejected from his aircraft sustaining a dislocated shoulder and minor injuries associated with an ejection. His aircraft was severely damaged on impact with the runway. Flt Lt Montenegro managed to land his aircraft safely with no injuries. An investigation into the cause of the incident will shortly be underway and the 2010 season training will continue as soon as possible."

There's been a crash during thursdays Red Bull Air Race practice session in Perth, Australia. The pilot Brazilian Adilson Kindelmann is fine after a very speedy recovery by the emergency crews

Re: Plane Spotters Corner

With not much to spot at the moment just having a browse through the archives. Couple of odd paint jobs (or lack of) spotted at Manchester a while ago.

They hadn't got around to painting the Airbus yet. Not sure where it was heading to, think it was Thomas Cook. (sorry about the Gulfstream wing, wish they'd park them somewhere else out of the way)

Never really worked out what was going on with the Cathay freight paint scheme. Someone went mad with the paint stripper on the 747F and just put a few stickers on it

How to land a twin prop without landing gear

This pilot demonstrates an absolutely picture-perfect gear-up landing, caught on tape by the media

And along the same lines, if you happen to pick up a Vulcan Bomber at a car boot, you'll be needing one of these.

Thanks for that. I've got one sat outside in the garage but as you can see there were some bits left over when we tried to put the engines back.
