And introducing new "partner" networks that re-sell the same thing at a lower price...

Re: Virgin Mobile - Retentions...
I have had the VM17 plan it was called for 2 years now discounted by £10 a month to £7 for loyalty. Its sim only and 30 day rolling contract and I get 1200 minutes unlimited data and texts and unlimited virgin calls and texts.
Just called to cancel both my teenagers £15 unlimited monthly rolling plans as received a letter saying it is increasing by £1.50 at the end of the month and said I will stay if you can give them the £7 a month same tarrif as mine each too. He said yes and just swapped them both to £7 a month VM17 too no haggling or anything. They have both had their rolling sims for 8 months.

Re: Virgin Mobile - Retentions...
Just proves that asking nicely works. Why people feel that shouting and threatening will get them what they want I will never know.
Might have mentioned this tip, if I haven't then I will now. Look at your bill to see when any loyalty discounts are due to end. If you have less than a month left, then call retentions and talk to them about a way keep what you want and drop what is not needed. I did for a relative (saying I was being pre-emptive for her as she was a pensioner and got praised for it by the woman), and by forgoing the Talk 08 option, a second box and movies her price went from £103.75 a month to just £81 a month. £8 less than what she paid between February and this month, with loyalty ending on 26th. And a brand new 12 month contract as well. She has seen out every single contract signed with Virgin.

Re: Virgin Mobile - Retentions...
Anyone managed to get a deal with a handset, seems it's easy to get a sim deal but not a handset deal

When I tried back in July was told no handset deals for me as I'm not a good enough customer - because I don't go over my allowances or receive enough incoming calls from other networks! Then they gave me a discount on my monthly sim only contracts....
Cheers

Doesn't surprise. Handsets are serious ££££. Vast majority of the contract cost is the handset. Doesn't leave much room for discounting.

Re: Virgin Mobile - Retentions...
It's always made sense me getting handsets as I get a 50% discount. Will probably wait and see if the note 4 comes out before I decide.

Ok so they took my discount off me as said I can't have retention deal and staff rates even though mates have mates rates and a retention deal.
So looks like I'm going to get a LG G3. Give the wife my note 3. Not sure if it's a downgrade or not. Similar specs. Don't like the big bezels on sonys.
