Xbox Gold price increase
Did anyone have a message yesterday on their Xbox about the price of the 12 month Xbox Live membership.
Its going up from £39.99 to £49.99
Here is the message
Quote:
As of May 08, the 12-month subscription fee for Xbox Live Gold is increasing from £39.99 to £49.99 to address changing market conditions. All current subscribers will keep their current subscription fee for 90 days. You will be charged the new price effective August 7, 2019 unless you choose to cancel your subscription before the next scheduled payment. For more information: https://support.xbox.com.

Bit of a jump that.

Talking of Xbox subscriptions there is to be a investigation by The Competition and Markets Authority about auto-renewal terms for Switch, PlayStation and Xbox subscriptions.

Re: Xbox Gold price increase
Nice, they've now reminded me again to whinge about why you have to pay to use a glorified storefront.
One step forward with the game pass, one step backwards with already charging to use their 'service' then hiking the price.

Re: Xbox Gold price increase
I have heard rumours they may be putting gold and game pass together.
I could be ok with the price rise if it was going to happen.

Re: Xbox Gold price increase
It's definitely a thing in the US at least. Fear it may be similar to the Xbox console and gold bundle they did for US customers in that it's exclusive to the US. It makes sense to offer discounted prices for a dual subscription.

Re: Xbox Gold price increase
I think it ties into the other rumours of a digital only Xbox 1.
It should be cheaper as there won't be a blu ray drive. It's been rumoured for months.
Game pass is great though.

Any more news on if they are merging the two?

Can't find anything but i have found that if someone pays for Xbox Live yearly they won't make any cost saving so my guess is if you can already buy Xbox Live at internet prices then it will be cheaper to buy both separately.

Re: Xbox Gold price increase
They aren't merging the two as such. It's a new product so to speak with both subscriptions bundled together for a monthly price. You can still subscribe to just one of these without having to pay for both.
Everyone that has a subscription to both will be bundled automatically. If you have an Xbox live prepaid sub and a game pass prepaid sub, they will bundle regardless of how much you paid for them for credit up to 36 months. Your existing prepaid subscriptions will bundle upon release and as a above will credit for up to 36 months. If one pass expires before the other you will be unbundled but can continue using the non expired sub as normal of course.
It's currently out for people opted into the preview and testing builds and will be rolled out shortly. The UK is part of the rollout. The name for more information on it will be called Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
