The description is comprised of 2 sentences. One describing what it is suitable for, the other what it is not.

Re: External Hard Disk Enclosure Question

The last picture says supports Linux, therefore that suggests the "Not suitable for Linux" applies only to hot swapping. In that case it should've said something along the lines of ", except under Linux".

I had a feeling you'd be all over that comment. At the very top it says multiple systems supported, then underneath there are three icons, Windows, Mac and Linux. The Mac icon has a cross in it, which may suggest it doesn't work with mac os however the Windows and Linux icons are just the normal icons So what are the multiple systems ?

Re: External Hard Disk Enclosure Question

Perhaps the X in the Mac box refers to OSX?

No mention of Linux in the product deascription.

Re: External Hard Disk Enclosure Question

With regards to Linux use the only Linux device I have tried my 4 bay Orico on is a OSMC Vero 4K+, this device is a Kodi based media player with customised Debian OS.
The Vero will see and work with all drives when the Orico is plugged into the device when its on but will go through an endless reboot loop if you try and restart it whilst the Orico is plugged in.
However OSMC is on the old 3.4 Linux Kernal and is in the process of of updating to 4.9 (they have an RC version as of now for people to try), so the newer Kernal may result in better performance.
Sorry I'm not really a Linux user, I can SSH into my Vero's and carry out a few commands but that's the extent of my knowledge so I may be talking BS about the kernals.
