He was taken on a free transfer. Don't know what his salary would be but I imagine it'd be in line with the other recent signings.

Bringing on Babel and Voronin to try and change the game...I'm not suprised they lost.
I thought Villa were brilliant though, Brad Friedel made up for the game last season at anfield and was superb tonight.

He was the first (and I believe ONLY) person to score for both sides in an FA cup final (he scored city's goal and an own goal went in off his shoulder)

Re: Football : Season 2009/2010
To be fair Liverpool were very poor.Although they could have been 1-0 up after 30 odd seconds through Benayoun then between them Torres,Benayoun & Gerrard should have scored.Villa deserve all the credit for their win again costly mistakes by Lucas firstly giving away a needless free kick then bad defending in the 3erd minute of 1 minute added time from the corner and Stevie G's very rash penalty.Only Glen Johnson had a decent game for the Reds.
Congratulations to Villa

If anyone's curious about Ricky Villa's claim to fame in that game is that his goal was voted Wembley's goal of the century by BBC viewers.

Re: Football : Season 2009/2010
It wasn't in that game (no wonder I was confused) but instead in the replay, the original game ended 1-1 with PP scoring both goals

Another tragedy strikes West Ham. Jack Collison's dad died in a traffic accident on the way to the Spurs v West Ham.

You've got to be a real heartless so-and-so not to feel for the club at the moment.

What ever happened to the respect all teams, players, and referees
I thought that was supposed to be the big thing in football now.
That is why I always congratulate the opposition on their own forums when they beat Liverpool. And if we win I wish them better luck next time or tell them how unlucky they were.

It's the CF way - when Liverpool lose, United fans lead the way in urine-extraction. Why? Because we expect nothing less thatn the same when United get beaten. It's in the rules

Not my way
I always make a point of congratulating United when they beat Liverpool.
I have the greatest of respect for United and I have United mates. We have never taken the pea out of eachother.

I always think it's best to wait a while because it can turn around so quickly! Best to gloat at the end of a season
I do think there is a point where you should separate good ol fashion banter and rivalry with an honest assessment of the football itself. It's incredibly annoying to talk about football with someone blinded by fanatical support to their team, a support they believe will be undermined by any objectivity.
It's also annoying to spend to much time debating insignificant aspects of the game. Hence everyone rushing to find a clear answer why their team is either starting well or bad. When most of the time it's simply the fact that it's a competitive sport and sometimes the other team played better on the day or luck came into play. Not these ludicrous stories people fabricate to fill column inches.

Re: Football : Season 2009/2010
It's absolutely nothing personal but I would be suspicious of a Liverpool supporter who was gracious when United lose. OK it's sportsmanship and that's obviously to be commended but it's part and parcel of the game - United and liverpool are each other's biggest rivals. You should see me on facebook ripping the urine out of all my scouse-supporting mates when they lose but it's only because I expect the same treatment back. It's almost like I respect them more if they do it.
I seperate the fans from the team though - the deep respect I've shown here in the past towards Hillsborough should bear that out. But when certain teams lose, it's almost a requirement to have a laugh about it.
